We were in Madeira only last month (mid February)! We know the area quite well from previous trips to the island and we quite like to stay in Arco da Calheta itself as we think it has a lot to offer at more affordable prices in comparison to places to stay in Funchal city centre. We were a larger group last time we visited and therefore rented the entire property, both the apartment and the villa. The property is divided in 2 with the 2 bedroom villa above the 1 bedroom apartment! Both the villa and the apartment are spacious and bright as it benefits from large windows all around! The balconies are an added bonus if like us you enjoy eating out in the evenings. The views are fantastic and the caretaker who greets you on arrival is very friendly. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to friends or family and will shortly be going back again (already booked for the end of April) and will go back as many times as we decide to visit Madeira.

Villa Miradouro
Review Submitted: 08 February 2013 Date of Stay: January 2013
...even at that late hour, tired after long trip, we arrived to villa Miradouro, everything seemed exiting. Specious and cosy sitting room with fireplace and balcony with the view to the ocean the same as both bedrooms and the kitchen. Bathrooms and kitchen equipped very well feels just like in comfort of your own home. Thanks to professionalism and honesty of the owner and caretaker.
Location is exactly what we were looking for. It was so relaxing and peaceful. Here we discovered real spirit of this island. At least for 8 days we dived into the local life. Apart from our dear Paula caretaker of the villa, we had two resident funny ginger cats always checking up on us. What was so sweet to have them around. And made us feel not such a strangers.
It was always pleasure to come back after day trips to relax in this comfort of the villa.
If one day we’ll be back to Madeira we hope to stay at villa Miradouro again.

Silent place with great atmosphere
Review Submitted: 03 May 2011 Date of Stay: April 2011
We spent the whole week in this house. The place is quiet, you can enjoy the countryside atmosphere a lot. Afte the whole day spent in the mountains or busy Funchal we were sitting on the terrace, watching the sea, drinking good wine :-)
In the evenings you can go for a walk (we almost haven´t met other tourists here), or to drink a beer or poncha in one of the local bars.
If you have a car, I would recommend to stay in the place like this, it is a good point to make the day tours around the whole island.
